NAMI Rochester Committees

Committees

Outreach Committee. Plans and evaluates monthly meetings and special events assesses member needs, does community outreach and education at fairs, etc., publicity, coordinates volunteers. 2nd Wednesday of the month, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Special Events. Help at special events such as the annual banquet (April) and the Jessica Cole Henderson Memorial Lecture (October).

NAMI CARES and Group Facilitators. Facilitating caring and sharing sessions. Help Facilitate small group discussions at monthly meetings. Training provided for those who are qualified.

Legislative Committee. New group looking for people who want to develop an understanding of current legislative issues and do advocacy locally and in Albany.

Speakers Bureau: Speaking about NAMI and personal experiences as a peer or a family member to groups ( schools, churches, agencies, etc.) Training provided for those who are qualified.

Criminal Justice Committee:

NAMI Rochester is a member of the Monroe County Public Safety Sector Mental Health Subcommittee.
NAMI Rochester provides information and support to families involved in the Monroe County Mental Health Court.
NAMI Rochester provides support groups for inmates at the Monroe Correctional
Facility.
NAMI Rochester participates in training for the Rochester Police Department's
Emotionally Disturbed Persons Response Team (EDPRT).

Hospital Recovery Education - Distribution Team

DBSA and NAMI are collaborating on a Hospital Recovery Awareness Program that offers reimbursement for mileage and parking, and a limited number of stipends (for those who qualify) to take self-help recovery education materials to Mental Health Providers in the Rochester area.
